Even with all the premartial counseling, marriages are being broken in a very high speed. The old mindset of the parents must be changed in the modern times. Now the children are educated and they can make a decent living, so we must give them the maximum freedom to select their partners. If we try to hang on to the old traditions of "status-fame-wealth- family background etc etc", the public will compliment the marriage as a great match, but in between the husband and wife, that may not be a perfect union. Until and unless, both the husband and wife have a forgiving heart-humility- selflessness, caring for one another, loyalty, identical vision and purpose; all the counseling may not have any value and worth while the boat journey starts through the rough ocean. It is always good and a must that the couples must undergo marriage counseling conducted by qualified counselors. Much prayer and guidance of the Holy Spirit is very essential before holding hands together.
