No wonder the writer find parallels between Pentecost and CPM, also between its leaders. It is quite natural for the writer to justify "secrete camera fame" Gopi Kottamurickal, since the writer is also the biggest supporter of the pastor in NY who got red handed recently !!

Very useless argument which does not hold any value at all. May be we should learn the basic of argument and Bible interpretation. Time to go to school again !!

page: 2 st. paul wrote to titus " for a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of god; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker... titus 1:7. st. paul's letter to ephesians, " be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess, but be filled with the spirit" eph 5:18. drunk with wine means don't turn like a drunkard. probably timothy might have been an extra-holy personality suffering from a stomach problem. st. paul wrote to him " drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities" i timothy 5:23. (it was not grape juice) please don't misunderstand me as promoting wine drinking. but if somebody is taking this verse and preaching and serving wine for stomach and other infirmities, thus starting wine stores as god's revelation based on the bible, can we criticize that because st. paul wrote that very specifically and openly.

today, i read in the facebook that one of the leading charismatic prosperity peacheer of kerala built a house costs rs. 5 crores. i am going to bring another subject in the bible. if based on one verse from 3rd john verses 2, could create a big prosperity gospel, in the same tone and context, i can create another big gospel based on this subject, and those people enjoying this can't be blamed at all by any religious people. the first miracle performed by jesus was turning the water in wine. (john 2:6) jesus and the disciples were invited for that marriage. when the governor of the feast tasted the water turned wine, called the bridgegoom and complained " thou hast kept the good wine until now" verses 10. that was not grape juice, probably 6-20 proof wine. did jesus and the disciples drink that wine? for the post of bishop. "not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, ...1 timothy 3:3-4.

contd:2. in my younger days, in any christian convention, especially that of the pentecostal churches, i have never heard the preachers mentioning " money ". even before the love offering was taken, nobody gave a long lecture about the abundant blessings to be received after putting the biggest amount at the love offering plates. how those misters lived in those days? now, it has became a routine to spend half of the time in each service to talk about money. do we serve a different god now? the u.s. made prosperity gospel has penetrated to asia and africa, and it has turned like a business in the name of jesus and gospel. when i read about george mueller and mother teresa, even though their ministries took millions of dollars to operate, they never sent an appeal or openly presented the needs to anybody, other than to god.

Brother Jayaraj: Thank you for your response. God has promised His children that He will take care of their needs, and if we have full trust in that promise, we need not have to worry constantly about hoarding wealth for tomorrow. Rev. Oral Roberts got the prosperity gospel revelation from the 3rd Epistle of John verses 2 " Beloved, I wish above all things that thou may prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prosper". There are many such writings touching many subjects by various Apostles to different 1st centuary Churhes, touching food-ornaments-etc. If we are trying to make a big gospel out of them all, it will be very confusing. We will have to look very straight at what JESUS has taught about those subjects, because He is the author and finisher of our faith. Every believer must repeatedly read the red letters of the New Testament (the red letter edition where everything what Jesus has said in red letter).

I agree with Mr. A. S. Mathew, what u says are correct, in my childhood,I attend lot of "corner Meetings" there, they powerfully preached the second coming of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Nowadays, nobody want to preach or hear about second coming or final judgment. MONEY .....MONEY...... that's only blessing people need nowadays. Judas betrayed Jesus for thirty copper coins, these so called Pastors/Cheaters betraying Jesus day bye day for Crores of rupees, shameless fools

is there any biblical evidence for full time pastor.? do you read that word (fulltime) in the nt ? tell me what you know about calling of pastors ? is there at all any body called to be pastor in nt? give me a reference for it please. even if you read 10 times, you will not get any chance for finding someone called to be a pastor in nt. because there is no such call to be a pastor. do not simply read somewhere the 'call' and assume it be call to pastor.

btw, how many of the pastors in us are pastors(fultime)?

i wanted another answer from all those participating in the discussion here, is it right once a pastor and always a pastor.!!

peter and his buddies tried very hard that night to catch the fish, but got nothing. in that desperate morning, when jesus asked them to give the boat for a few hours as his podium to speak to the crowd, peter was very delighted to loan the boat. after the sermon, jesus told him to cast the net in one particular location, they got the biggest catch of their lifetime. but, jesus told them " i will make you fishermen of men". they left everything, never tried the fishing business while they were with jesus. peter tried fishing a few days after the resurrection of jesus. paul had a tent making business, merely for survival. the pastors shouldn't waste their property without cultivation. on the other hand, if pastors are engaged in business to create wealth, that is not biblical at all. their full time business is soul winning: god will provide, avoid the money making business. if the pastors don't have that call, don't take it.

If you call others Gehasi , I wonder this Gehaazi traveled up to Dubai to make money. The Bible says if you something to eat and dress that is morethan enough. So I wonder you are in the desert land for some charity to help the poor Arabs.

Hello friends, you all have the freedom to say what you want. So you say that you have a freedom to earn some hard money. ( I am not going to open can of worms about how most of you guys have reached there to earn. That is for another occasion to do.) Now tell me that the pastors in India cannot earn a hard money and live with it?. Do you want all your pastors back home to beg from you. What have you thought about servants of God and they are your servants too? If you think that some one is rich and he is branded as ghehasi. I pity that the leprosy is on your mind and need definite healing.

achayan original may be a rich pastor in kerala. Rajan you did a grat job. Please keep writing this kind of article. Pastors or belivers living in US they are working hard and making money and living well.My understanding Rajan's article is not talking about that rich. Achayan orginal you need to read that article one more time what he said in it.

6) if god's people can earn legitimately, i would not mind them owning a very decent home, car or in that matter any luxury which would not be a hindrance to his/her walk with the lord.

7) many are sitting in glass chambers and are throwing stone on others(including this article).

8) remember we are not living in 1920. it is 2012. so situations has changed all over.

9) if any one think money is a problem, i would ask all those malayales in america to leave us and head to back home and we can start plant tappioka, use kerosine lantern, sit on pana mat, send our children to govt schools, and walk miles to meeting and drink from wells on the way.

10) i would love to read more from you, but objectively.

brother rajan, with all the respects for your freedom to express your thoughts, let me disagree with certain issues you have raised.

1) what do you expect the pastors to do now.? (when i say pastors, please read this include all levels of pastors, leaders etc..)

2) is it wrong (biblically), to do business to earn money? or you think only if you have migrated to usa , you should earn a living and not the pastors back home.?

3) how are you living in us? (i am sorry because i have the least amount of knowledge about you). but i am sure, you are not living the way you used to live while you were in india.

4) if you think because you are living in america, you can live with all the amnesties , why don't you think that the same can be of the situation for pastors and leaders in india.?

5) i am all for pastors and leaders to keep transparency in all the dealing of the servants of god everywhere.

Very challenging editorial. More than 35 years back, the Pastors and Evangelists used to preach about the 2nd coming of Christ, and the coming world "heaven" where 24 hour singing and joy with our Lord JESUS. Now, even 1% of these Ministers of the gospel are not preaching those subjects at all. These subjects were highly touching spiritual subjects when the Ministers were suffering financail problems, and fully trusted in God's provisions. Now, the whole economic equation has dramatically changed, and the real spirit and fighting attitude is to have more material things of this world; because both the believers and non-believers adore them as divinely blessed people. On the other hand, living in moderation with less means of life is considered as a divine curse.

Indeed, we are in a spiritual depression now!
